Morocco is just 14 kms across the Straits of Gibraltar from Tarifa - in fact, it could be said that the nearest large town is Tanger...

A fascinating place. I first went to Morocco in 1980, travelling to the Sahara by train, bus and truck. I did it again in 1981. I lived in Rabat from 1988 to 1992, during which time my work took me to every corner of the country. I’ve been back many times since, and often pop over on the ferry from Tarifa.

The pictures here are from summer 2008 when I spent a few weeks windsurfing the wild Atlantic spots around Essaouira.  (Pictures from the windsurfing are on Jalbum.)
